This origami pinwheel is designed by me and pulled from my youtube channel that you can see here. I diagrammed it for convenience, since the video itself is not that great. However, due to different softwares, my diagrams won't look exactly the same as most others (this might be temporary, but it will probably stay). However, for the meantime, please know that mountain and valley folds would be represented with red and blue crease line colors, respectively. Please share any feedback using the contact form, as it would be greatly appreciated! Also, if you're on PC and the diagrams are way too large, press CTRL - (minus key) to shrink the screen.
You can watch the video here:
Begin color side up. Fold the paper in half horizontally and then unfold.
Fold the bottom edge to the crease made earlier.
Fold the top edge to the crease in the middle.
Unfold completely.
Fold the paper in half vertically and unfold.
Fold the left edge to the crease made earlier.
Fold the right edge to the crease in the middle.
Unfold completely.
Fold the bottom left corner to the point highlighted with a square and make a crease connecting the two circled points.
Repeat on the three other sides. Turn the paper over.
Fold each corner to the center of the paper. Turn the paper over.
Collapse the model. Rabbit-ear fold all 4 corners to make a shape that resembles a traditional pinwheel.
The model should look like this. Turn the paper over.
Open the layers.
Pull out the layer from behind one of the triangular flaps. Make a crease from the center to the corner of the paper. Then, fold an angle bisector between the newly created diagonal crease and vertical center crease while pulling out the layer behind the original flap partially and flatten.
Repeat on all of the other three sides.
Model complete!
